These standards govern every page on USA RV Directory. They exist so the Big-Rig Score stays trustworthy.
How we score
Every listing is rated 1–10 on The Big-Rig Standard™, a weighted composite of eight data points: max rig length, turn radius/entry, site type (pull-through vs. back-in), low clearance, fuel within range, grade on approach, overnight rules, and the resulting score. Campgrounds, restaurants, and route stops each use a rubric variant suited to that type.
Who scores
Scores are assigned and reviewed by Calvin Whitlock, founder and lead reviewer, based on published specifications, satellite and street imagery, operator information, and lived big-rig experience.
Sourcing & honesty
- Published specs are stated plainly. Derived values are marked inferred. Web-verified values are dated.
- Safety-relevant fields — low clearance and grade — are kept conservative. We flag rather than reassure.
- We never fabricate dimensions, prices, or addresses. If a figure isn’t published, we don’t assert it.
- Every page includes at least one honest lower-scoring “workable with planning” pick. We don’t rubber-stamp everything 9–10.
Independence & conflicts of interest
No business pays for placement or for its Big-Rig Score. Advertising and any future paid or featured listings are visually distinct and never influence a score. If a monetization relationship ever touches content, we disclose it on the page.
