USA RV Directory exists to answer one question honestly: will my big rig actually fit? “Big-rig friendly” was a label anyone could slap on a listing, with no definition behind it. We replaced it with The Big-Rig Standard™ — a uniform 1–10 score built from the same eight measurable data points on every campground, restaurant, and travel stop. A 9 in Florida means the same thing as a 9 in Oregon.
What we cover
- Campgrounds that genuinely fit a 40-foot-plus rig, scored state by state
- Restaurants with real big-rig parking
- Routes broken into scored stops, sequenced by milepost
- Guides on overnight rules, length limits, clearance, and maneuvering
Who writes this
The directory is researched and scored by Calvin Whitlock, a full-time big-rig RVer and the creator of The Big-Rig Standard™. Calvin is not a licensed engineer and makes no such claim — the authority here comes from lived experience and a documented, repeatable method, not credentials.
Our promise
- No business pays for placement or for its Big-Rig Score.
- We don’t fabricate specs, prices, or addresses. Published figures are stated plainly; derived values are marked inferred; safety-relevant fields (clearance, grade) are kept conservative.
- Content is AI-assisted and human-reviewed — and we say so (see our AI disclosure).
Spotted something wrong? Submit a correction — the standard gets sharper every time a real RVer pushes back.
